In what may appear to be a minor achievement on the part of otherwise lackadaisical Tripura police, a team of the state’s cops in co-operation with the much smarter Delhi police yesterday rescued from Nepal a minor girl who had gone missing from Sabroom witih a Bahari man identified as Krishan Thakur (37) on October 19. Since the girl had not returned home from her school her parents got worried and registered a complaint with the Sabroom police station.

For a change the police promptly launched an investigation and started tracking the mobile of the minor girl which was found switched off .It was revealed in the course of investigation that the girl had been in touch with the Bihari man Krishan Thakur through social media. In spite of the mobile having been switched off the police was able to trace their presence in Himachal Pradesh first by cracking the IPA and IMEI number that was done by the Cyber Cell. But then there was a change in the direction of the mobile and the police suspected that they might have entered Nepal. Tripura police then got in touch with Delhi police and then with Nepal police. Finally after a lot of efforts a joint team of Delhi and Tripura police traced the Bihari man and the minor girl from Sabroom in Dong area near Kathmandu in Nepal.

Both the Bihari man Krishan Thakur and the minor girl were brought back to Tripura and the girl was duly put through medical check-up. Police sources said that both are now in custody and the Bihari man will be produced in court for remand in the interest of cusrtodial interrogation.
