The Tripura government has launched a major digital initiative to ensure faster and more transparent disbursement of pensions to retired state employees through the introduction of the Human Resource Management System (HRMS), a digital platform that stores service records of employees ahead of retirement.
Announcing the initiative at the inauguration of a one-day workshop on the ‘Nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign-4.0’ at Muktadhara Auditorium, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said the new system will simplify the pension process and reduce delays.
“The campaign enables pensioners to submit their annual life certificates digitally from home using mobile applications or computers, eliminating the need for physical visits,” the minister said.
Singha Roy said Tripura currently has over 80,000 state government pensioners and that the HRMS would ensure greater coordination between the Finance Department, treasuries, banks and the Accountant General’s office. He suggested that similar awareness workshops be organised across districts and subdivisions.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Digital India’ vision, the minister said Tripura has introduced digital governance across all levels—from the Secretariat to panchayats—and is working towards becoming a model state by 2047.
Finance Secretary Apurba Roy noted that Tripura currently ranks fourth in India in digital governance and aims to move higher with consistent effort. Additional Secretary Akinchan Sarkar announced that Help Desks would be set up in all treasuries for pensioners’ convenience.
The workshop was attended by senior officials from the Finance Department, the Accountant General’s office, banks, treasuries, and common service centres. The event concluded with a technical session explaining the digital pension process.
