The condition of the Agartala–Karimganj–Agartala DEMU train has become a matter of serious concern for daily passengers, who complain of unhygienic surroundings, irregular timings, and poor maintenance.
According to regular commuters, the train is almost always late between stations, with no fixed timing or visible supervision by railway officials. The lack of cleanliness has made the journey increasingly unpleasant, with foul smells and visible dirt throughout the compartments.
Passengers have also reported that the number of coaches is insufficient, forcing many to stand for long durations, especially within Tripura’s section of the route. “The situation near the washroom is unbearable. It’s difficult even to stand there,” said a passenger who recently travelled from Kumarghat to Agartala.
Adding to the distress, some passengers have pointed out that cobwebs and even spiders hanging from the roof are a common sight, describing the journey as a troublesome experience. Despite repeated complaints, hardly any railway staff or officials are seen inspecting or maintaining the train.
Travellers urge the Northeast Frontier Railway authorities to take immediate steps to ensure proper cleaning, regular maintenance, and increased coach capacity on the Agartala–Karimganj route.
