Michael Madhusudhan Dutta (MMD) College, Sabroom, in collaboration with the Sabroom Administration, organized a Vigilance Awareness Programme today as part of the nationwide observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025. The event was held under this year’s theme — “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.”
The week-long campaign aims to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in all spheres of life, while spreading awareness about the need to prevent corruption and uphold ethical values in governance and society.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Anupam Guha, Principal of MMD College, who highlighted the importance of youth participation in building a corruption-free nation. Dr. Guha stated that the students of the college have taken an oath to eradicate corruption from society and to lead with honesty and moral responsibility in all their actions.
Distinguished guests present at the event included Asish Dey, Sub-Inspector of Sabroom Police Station, and Dr. Uma Begum, Head of the Department of Political Science, along with other faculty members and students. Speakers emphasized that creating a transparent and ethical society requires collective effort, continuous vigilance, and personal integrity from every citizen.
They also underscored the importance of preventive vigilance and ethical behavior in everyday life, noting that the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) observes this week annually in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister, to honor his vision of honesty and nation-building.
The event concluded with all participants taking a solemn oath to eliminate corruption from society, pledging to uphold values of transparency, accountability, and integrity in every aspect of life.
