Tension erupted in Bishalgarh’s Dhwaj Nagar village on Saturday after angry villagers captured and beat two local ruling party leaders accused of attempting to grab a woman’s farmland. The enraged villagers tied the duo to a pillar before handing them over to the police.

According to local sources, the incident involves two brothers, Abhilash Sinha and Abishek Sinha, both ruling party leaders from Dhwaj Nagar area. They allegedly conspired to forcibly occupy a paddy field owned by a local woman, Alema Begum. The two had reportedly been pressuring the woman for several days to hand over her land, even threatening her when she refused.

On Saturday, the brothers, accompanied by a few local youths, again visited Alema Begum’s land and allegedly attacked her during a fresh attempt to seize it. As the news spread, several women from the area united and confronted the duo. In a dramatic turn, they caught both men, beat them, and tied them to a tree with ropes as a mark of public protest.

The incident quickly drew the attention of the villagers and soon reached local party leadership. Fearing escalation, the police from Bishalgarh police station rushed to the spot, rescued the tied-up leaders, and took them into custody.

Alema Begum later filed a formal complaint at Bishalgarh Police Station against Abhilash and Abishek Sinha, accusing them of attempted land grabbing and assault.

The incident triggered temporary tension in the area. Following the public outrage, local residents and the victim have demanded that both leaders be expelled from the party and brought under strict legal action.

Locals remarked that though the notorious “Bike Bahini” groups have disappeared, land mafia activities have sharply increased across several parts of the area, posing a new challenge for law and order in Bishalgarh.
