Sambit Patra and Rajidip Roy hold series of meetings to sort our inner contradictions of BJP in Tripura

A joint photograph of chief minister Dr Manik Saha, former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and former union minister of state Pratima Bhowmik flanking central BJP leaders Sambit Patra and Rajdip Roy released in the social media today sought to give a message of unity in the state’s top leadership of ruling BJP. The photograph had been taken in front of the state BJP headquarter in Krishna Nagar after a series of meetings the central leaders had held with the state leaders to sort out growing inner bickerings of the party. Speaking to media the BJP state president Rajiv Bhattacharjee said that the central leaders had arrived in Tripura to discuss details of how the ‘Unity Run’ will be conducted by the state BJP as part of celebration of the birth anniversary of freedom movement stalwart and India’s first home minister Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Asked how the party viewed the twenty four hour ‘Tripura bandh’ called by ‘Tipra Mortha’ on October 23, Rajeev Bhattacharjee said that the state BJP and its leaders had condemned this.

Sources in BJP said that after arriving in the state yesterday Sambit Patra and Rajdip Roy have held wide-ranging discussions with state leaders including chief minister Dr Manik Saha, Pratima Bhowmik and former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb over the strained relations with coalition partner ‘Tipra Motha’ party and its activities. Besides, the central observers took opinion of the state leaders regarding the election or nomination of the new state president for the party here. Apart from this, the problem of factionalism in the state party and undue interference of extraneous elements in the internal affairs of the party . But significantly, Sambit Patra yesterday met the MLAs and ministers one to one in the state guest house yesterday to take their views on functioning of the party and the government and the MLAs and ministers are reported to have expressed their opinion. What ultimately will transpire from the exercises is still not known , sources said , adding that the top central leadership of the party will make a detailed review of the state of affairs in Tripura before arriving at a final decision on the party structure and leadership in Tripura.

This morning a meeting of the state BJP core committee was held in the party office . The meeting was attended by chief minister Dr Manik Saha, state president Rajeev Bhattacharjee, former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, ministers Pranjit Singharoy, Ratan Lal Nath and Pratima Bhowmik. In the meeting many important issues confronting the party here were discussed and central observers Sambit Patra and Rajidip Roy took opinion of the members of the core committee on a host of issues including the ‘Unity Run’ on October 31.

Meanwhile, sources in BJP indicated that there is possibility of a reshuffle in the ministry here . As part of this one minlster will be dropped and a new incumbent will be taken in. But sources could not disclose the name and said that this will be done to rejuvenate the functioning of the government.
