Political temperature has once again soared in Tripura. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s recent remarks at a government function have triggered a storm in the state’s political circles. Though he refrained from taking any names, political observers are almost unanimous that his comments were clearly aimed at former Power Corridor.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said, “Dada politics has become the biggest obstacle to the development of our state. We have often seen certain individuals doing whatever they please, ‘Jo hai man mein karu, koi dikkhat nahi, hum hai!’ But the administration and the police were not allowed to function freely. Development can never happen in such a situation.

His sharp words have laid bare the deep-rooted internal rift within the ruling BJP, revealing a growing conflict between development-driven governance and personality-centric politics. Political experts interpret Dr. Saha’s statement as an expression of frustration over internal interference and factional dominance that hinder administrative progress.

Known as an educated, honest, and hard-working leader, Dr. Manik Saha, a dentist-turnedpolitician has served as Chief Minister twice under the BJP banner. His vision has been clear: “Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura, Nesha-Mukt Tripura” (One Tripura, Great Tripura, Drug-Free Tripura).

However, according to political analysts, his vision for a progressive Tripura is facing major challenges from within his own party. The growing influence of a few dominant corrupt leaders, driven by personal ambitions and unnecessary intervention in governance, has repeatedly obstructed the Chief Minister’s developmental initiatives. His development-oriented approach, they argue, is being continuously undermined by internal power struggles.

Tripura’s political landscape now stands at a crucial crossroads on one side is a sincere Chief Minister striving for development and transparency, and on the other, a faction of corrupt leaders driven by ego and dominance.

The big question now haunting Tripura’s political corridors is: Which force will ultimately prevail, Development or Dada Politics?
