The Tripura Civil Service Officer Association (TCSOA) have thanked the chief minister Dr Manik Saha for condemning the violence perpetrated on them by unruly political elements on the day of Tripura ‘bandh’ on October 23 as also for visiting the injured officers in the hospital. But the association has also submitted a four point charter of demands for service security so that the unseemly incidents of attacks on them as happened on October 23 do not recur. A delegation of TCSOA met in deputation with the chief minister to submit the memorandum as well as to put across their views on the issue of assault and insecurity.

This has come to light from a memorandum submitted by the TCSOA to the chief minister yesterday. In the letter addressed by Asim Saha , general secretary of the association on October 23 there were incidents of assaults on a number of TCS officers like Abhijeet Majumder , BDO (Salema), Dhananjay Chakma , DC Kamalpur and Animesh Saha, TA Salema block in Santir Bazar market . All the officers were on official duty in the Santir Bazar market as executive magistrates to face up to the threat posed by an irate mob. Even though the officers survived an organised assault , all of the sustained varying degrees of grievous injuries . The letter said that the officers had been performing their official duties when attacked by a mob in a deliberate manner to murder all of them. While conveying their appreciation and gratitude to the chief minister for promptly condemning the incidents of organised assault on the officers and for extending support to their treatment , the association submitted a four point charter of demands to the chief minister .

The demands include immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the attacks on the three TCS officers, Abhijeet Majumder, Dhananjay Chakma and Animesh and meeting all expenses of their treatment by the government. Besides, a demand has also been placed seeking provision for sufficient security of the TCS officers while on field duty so that their lives can be saved from any murderous assault by a mob. Apart from this, a crucial demand has also been made for adequate security arrangement by the district and subdivision authority whenever they requisition services of the TCS officers as executive magistrates at the field level, the letter mentioned.

The general secretary of the TCSOA Asim Saha has also referred to the constant threat and uncertainty in which the TCS officers are required to perform their duties and asked for appropriate legal and administrative measures to given protection to the officer working at the field level. Describing the TCS officers as the executive working as the fourth pillar of democracy Asim Saha in his letter said that the officers execute all the public welfare schemes of the state and centre and make available to people their due benefits under such schemes. He has urged upon the chief minister to make provision for appropriate security and safety of the TCS officers working for the government at the grassroot level in the interest of people.
