Tripura Police Raids Ichabazar Godown Linked to Jirania Narcotics Case, Economic Offence Wing Expands Operation

In connection with the ongoing investigation into the Jirania narcotics case, Tripura Police’s Economic Offence Wing, along with the Narcotics Department, conducted a fresh raid at the Ichabazar-based warehouse of P Das, identified as Prabir Das. The operation was carried out following the earlier incident where a large consignment of banned cough syrup Phensedyl was seized at the Jirania Railway Station while being illegally transported by train.

Following Friday at Dhaleswar and Thursday’s search operations at Maharajganj Bazararea, the police continued their crackdown on Saturday as well. On the secend day, a police team carried out a detailed search at the residence of Milton Ghosh in the Maharajganj Bazar area, who is alleged to be linked to the Jirania Escaf Syrup smuggling network. Every room, cupboard, and storage space in the house was thoroughly inspected by the police officers during the raid.

However, similar to the previous day, the police refrained from making any official statement to the media regarding the findings or further course of action.

According to sources, the ongoing investigation aims to uncover the wider network involved in the illegal transportation and storage of narcotic substances across different parts of Tripura.
