Tripura Assembly Speaker Shri Biswabandhu Sen, Undergoes Successful Neurosurgical Treatment at Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru, Showing Steady Recovery.

According to an official medical report issued by Aster CMI Hospital, Mr. Sen was admitted on September 30, 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Ravi Gopal Varma, Director of the Global Centre for Excellence and Lead Consultant Neurosurgeon. Prior to his transfer to Bengaluru, he had undergone a decompressive craniectomy in Tripura to treat a left gangliocapsular bleed.

Upon his arrival at Aster CMI Hospital, Mr. Sen was in a critical condition. He subsequently underwent a right frontal external ventricular drain (EVD) procedure, followed by a tracheostomy. After these interventions, his condition stabilized, allowing his transfer to the general ward for continued care.

A follow-up CT scan on October 2, 2025, revealed the presence of hydrocephalus, necessitating a programmable ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt surgery. Since the procedure, Mr. Sen has been receiving regular physiotherapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and other adjuvant treatments as part of a multidisciplinary recovery program.

The hospital’s latest update confirms that Mr. Sen is now stable, maintaining normal oxygen saturation through a tracheostomy. He is being fed through a PEG tube and is scheduled to undergo cranioplasty surgery once the artificial bone implant becomes available.

Dr. Nirmala S, Consultant Neurosurgeon at Aster CMI Hospital, stated that the patient is planned for intensive rehabilitation therapy, which includes physiotherapy, TMS, and Ayurvedic therapy as part of an integrated recovery approach.

The medical team has observed steady progress in Mr. Sen’s health condition, marking a hopeful and encouraging phase in his long and challenging medical journey toward recovery.
