An exhibition stall set up at the Tripureswari Temple premises during the Diwali celebrations has drawn significant attention for raising financial awareness among visitors. The stall, established under the Reserve Bank of India's ‘Money Wise’ project and supported by NABARD’s Financial Inclusion Fund, was sponsored by Punjab National Bank (PNB) in collaboration with Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL).
The initiative aims to promote financial literacy among the rural population of Tripura, and the public's inquiries regarding various financial matters at the stall reflect a growing awareness and interest in financial well-being. The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Abhishek Debroy, MLA of the Matabari Constituency, who praised BAPCL for its continued efforts in empowering people through financial education. “BAPCL is doing commendable work to enhance financial literacy among the people of Tripura under the ‘Money Wise’ project,” said the MLA during his visit, accompanied by other dignitaries.
According to BAPCL officials, the ‘Money Wise’ project currently covers all 58 blocks across Tripura through 20 dedicated centres. These centres focus on educating the public in key areas such as Financial Awareness, Financial Inclusion, and the Adoption of Banking Technology, helping safeguard consumers from financial fraud.
The stall also disseminated information about various government-sponsored social security schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and the Atal Pension Yojana (APY). These schemes were highlighted as vital tools for financial security, especially for low-income and rural populations. Despite the growing awareness, officials stressed the need for more people to actively participate and enroll in these beneficial schemes. BAPCL remains committed to achieving their target, ensuring that every eligible individual can access the financial support available under these programs.
The financial literacy stall at the Diwali fair not only served as an informative platform but also as a testament to the positive shift in public mindset towards financial planning and security in Tripura.
