The political battleground in Tripura’s hill areas has begun to heat up ahead of the upcoming TTAADC elections. In a strategic move to challenge Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has brought former East Tripura MP Rebati Tripura back into the forefront of tribal politics.

Rebati Tripura, known for his fiery speeches, began his renewed political campaign on a powerful note. Addressing a public gathering at Ambassa yesterday, Rebati launched a direct attack on Pradyot Kishore, marking the beginning of what he called the 'lion’s roar' against misinformation and divisive politics.

Speaking at the rally, Rebati Tripura strongly asserted that since the BJP came to power in 2018, no community has benefited more than the royal family of Tripura. He reminded the audience that the BJP government not only honored the royal lineage but also elevated members of the family including Pradyot’s sister, who had been disconnected from Tripura for four decades by nominating her as Member of Parliament from East Tripura.

He also highlighted that Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport was named after the legendary Tripura monarch, reflecting the BJP’s respect for the state’s royal heritage.

Despite these recognitions, Rebati accused Pradyot Kishore Debbarma of spreading false propaganda against the BJP and threatening to withdraw support from the state’s coalition government.

Rebati emphasized that the BJP is the only national party that has consistently uplifted tribal communities, pointing out that the party has appointed tribal leaders as the President of India and as Chief Ministers in several states.

Concluding his address, Rebati alleged that Pradyot Kishore’s recent attacks on BJP and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stem from personal ambition and a desire to secure the Chief Minister’s post, rather than genuine concern for the welfare of Tripura’s indigenous people.

With Rebati Tripura re-entering the political fray, the battle for dominance in Tripura’s tribal belt is expected to intensify in the coming weeks, as both Tipra Motha and BJP gear up for a fierce showdown.
