The Government of Tripura has launched a new welfare initiative titled ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana (MKBY)’, aimed at providing financial assistance to daughters of economically weaker ration card-holding families during their marriage.
Under this scheme, eligible families will receive a one-time financial grant of Rs. 50,000 (Fifty Thousand Rupees) to support the marriage expenses of their daughters. The primary objective of this initiative is to extend financial help to underprivileged families living in remote and economically backward areas of the state, ensuring that their daughters can get married with dignity and social security.
To apply for the scheme, the bride or her guardian must contact the local Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office. Application forms and further details regarding eligibility and documentation can be obtained from the respective CDPO offices across the state.
Officials have urged all eligible families to take advantage of this scheme to ease the financial burden associated with marriage ceremonies.
The scheme is being implemented under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, Government of Tripura, led by Tapan Kumar Das, IAS, the Director of the department.
This initiative reflects the Tripura government’s ongoing commitment to empowering women and supporting economically weaker families through targeted social welfare schemes.
