A fresh political storm has erupted in Tripura’s tribal politics as the BJP’s Janajati Morcha leadership has strongly condemned recent remarks made by TIPRA Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman. Over the past few days, Debbarman has been openly criticizing the BJP, accusing its central leadership of doing nothing for Tripura’s tribal communities and even making controversial comments about the Chief Minister.

Reacting sharply, top BJP Janajati Morcha leaders stated that no other political party has done as much for the welfare of Tripura’s tribal population as the BJP has. They highlighted several initiatives of the BJP-led government including honoring tribal community leaders, conferring Padma Shri awards on prominent tribal achievers, and naming the Agartala Airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, a revered figure of the royal lineage.

The leaders also pointed out ongoing development projects such as the establishment of new Eklavya Model Residential Schools and numerous welfare programs aimed at improving education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities in the state’s tribal areas.

Calling Pradyot’s recent statements unfortunate and misleading, BJP Janajati Morcha leaders urged him to refrain from creating divisions among Tripura’s non Tribals and Indigenous communities for political gain. They said the BJP government continues to uphold respect for the royal family and tribal culture while working for inclusive development across the state.

In their words, “It is the BJP that has truly honored Tripura’s heritage and empowered its tribal people, not divided them.”

BJP Janajati Morcha has firmly countered TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s allegations, asserting that the BJP has brought significant progress and respect to Tripura’s tribal communities. The Morcha urged Debbarman to stop spreading divisive rhetoric and recognize the government’s efforts for the state’s indigenous population.
