In a dramatic operation to curb illegal arms and narcotics in Tripura, the Indian Army has reportedly stepped into active field duty, leading a successful raid in Mohanpur. The operation resulted in the arrest of Sanjit Saha, a close associate of Mohanpur MLA and Minister Ratan Nath, who is known for his strong nationalist ties.
According to sources, a large cache of illegal weapons and drugs was recovered from Saha’s residence during the late-night operation. Security personnel seized a pistol, over 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a significant quantity of narcotic substances. The arrested individual was taken to Mohanpur Police Station before being transferred to NCC Police Station for further investigation.
Sources also confirmed that Saha will be produced before the magistrate today. The Indian Army’s involvement has been credited as the key factor behind the success of this operation.
While the Army played a decisive role in uncovering the illegal cache, police officials have been accused of merely acting as observers in the aftermath of the raid, according to local sources.
This marks one of the most significant arms and drug recovery operations in recent months in Tripura, reflecting the increasing role of central forces in tackling rising illegal activities across the state.
