In an inspiring story that has captured the attention of many across Tripura, 64-year-old contractor Utpal Dutta, popularly known as “Dulu Kakku” in his hometown Kalyanpur under Khowai district, has embarked on an extraordinary bicycle journey to Delhi, accompanied by his intellectually impaired son.
Utpal Dutta, a Grade 1 contractor of Tripura and a well-known name in the construction sector, has set out on this incredible expedition with a noble goal: to take his differently-abled son out to explore the world beyond their home. His determination and courage have turned him into a symbol of love, endurance, and inspiration for the people of Kalyanpur.
Having already crossed Siliguri, Dutta and his son continue to pedal their way through North India. Their journey will cover thousands of kilometers, with plans to travel from Tripura to Delhi and then onwards to Nagpur over the next two months.
At an age when most people prefer comfort and rest, Utpal Dutta’s sheer physical willpower and emotional strength stand as an example to all. In an era where even short distances are often covered by motorbikes or cars, this senior citizen’s long bicycle voyage, undertaken purely for his son’s happiness, has made him the pride of Kalyanpur.
Locals now affectionately refer to him as “Kalyanpur’s Pride”, admiring both his devotion as a father and his adventurous spirit that challenges age and circumstance.
