Agartala Public School to celebrate 15th October as ‘Students Day’

In a novel move the privately run Agartala Public School (APS), based in Puratan Agartala area, has taken a novel initiative to celebrate the day of October 15 as ‘Students Day’ to commemorate the former President and father of Indian missile programme APJ Abdul Kalam who was born on this day in the year 1931. This is in pursuance of the declaration made by the United Nations Organisation (UNO) in the year 2010 that birth day of great APJ Abdul Kalam would be celebrated as ‘Students Day’ the world over in recognition of his highly student-friendly nature.
Giving this information the principal in charge of Agartala Public School Shiba Prasad Bhowmik in a statement said that on the day of October 15 there will be a commemorative function in the government run Sukanta Academy auditorium. The programme will be inaugurated by the minister for science and technology Animesh Debbarma while the AMC Mayor and sitting BJP MLA Dipak Majumder will remain present as chief guest. Former professor MBB college Purnendu Kanti Das and the incumbent president of Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) will be guests of honour in the programme.
The entire programme will be presided over by the president of the Managing Committee of Agartala Public School Dr Sajal Nath. It is Arun Nath,one of the veteran editors of Tripura, who launched the Agartala Public School which has now achieved a high position among private schools in the state.
