The ‘Tipra Motha’ supremo Pradyot Kishore has lashed out at the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh ever since the forcible take-over of power by the interim government of Md Yunus. He asserted that even after four months of interim government’s misrule in Bangladesh the pitiable plight of minorities-Hindus, Buddhists and Christians-is not improving as the interim government there is silent and inert on the issue. “No minority in Bangladesh can now breathe freely, they are being deliberately targeted for loot, arson, crimes against women and all kinds of victimization without any provocation ; this must stop and the government ruling there must be sensitive to its responsibilities for all sections of people” said Pradyot.
He expressed grave concern over the dismantling of all democratic institutions including the judiciary. “It is astonishing that even courts are not being allowed to function as per law; a Hindu monk was arrested arbitrarily on a false charge and even his bail petition is not being heard; the lawyers owing allegiance to a particular section are preventing any other lawyer to defend the Hindu monk or apply for his bail in court in Chittagong by force and the presiding judge is asking for local lawyer; what can be more disgraceful” Prdyot asked .
In his social media post Pradyot also referred to the provocative and irresponsible utterances of a section of people owing allegiance to the interim government against India. “A nation that forgets or ignores it history and heritage can never prosper as a nation ; they have forgotten the history of their emergence as a nation in 1971 and how India had helped the process ; those fulminating against India today should remember the fate of Pakistan now ; that country is now on the verge of collapse and disintegration because of its anti-India paranoia ; Bangladesh will meet the same fate sooner rather than later unless it effects a course correction” said Pradyot in his social media post. He also referred to the destruction of the ‘Bir Chandra museum and library’ in Comilla by the fundamentalists in Bangladesh, saying the library had been built by Tripura king Bir Chandra Manikya for the benefit of people ‘but people blinded by communal rage do not respect history’. He also appealed to the government of India to take a serious view of what is happening in Bangladesh, specially to the minorities there and respond appropriately to all provocations.
