Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday hit out at the Trinamool Congress, urging the West Bengal government to learn from Tripura how to ensure security for opposition leaders. “They speak lies after lies to serve their political interests,” Dr Saha said, referring to the recent attacks on BJP leaders in North Bengal. He alleged that the assaults were sponsored by Trinamool and instigated by a particular section of society. “Now they are claiming innocence after coming to Tripura. It’s a white lie,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister accused Trinamool leaders of visiting Tripura to create unrest. “They brought a tribal leader just to provoke tension and project Tripura as lawless. In reality, no planned attack was carried out on their office which usually remains vacant,” he said, adding that police acted swiftly to maintain order.

Dr Saha lauded the state police for providing security throughout the Trinamool delegation’s visit and ensuring no untoward incident occurred. He also criticised CPIM for being “social media active but socially disconnected.” Speaking after inaugurating the renovated College Tilla Lake, he said the government has allocated sufficient funds for civic development and condemned anti-social activities along the Bishalgarh highway.
