Tripura Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Pal Represents State at 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Barbados

Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Shri Ram Prasad Pal represented the state at the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference held in Bridgetown, the historic capital of Barbados, from October 7 to 10, 2025. The prestigious global parliamentary event brought together delegates from 56 Commonwealth nations, including Presidents, Prime Ministers, Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and Members of Parliament.

The four-day conference, recognized as one of the most significant platforms of the global parliamentary tradition, focused on strengthening democratic values, constitutional governance, and inter-parliamentary cooperation among member countries. The event was marked by insightful discussions on environmental issues, human rights, youth participation, digital governance, and modernization of parliamentary systems.

The Indian delegation to the conference was led by Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, under whose leadership several Speakers and Deputy Speakers from various Indian states participated. India’s contribution centered on sharing its experience in parliamentary democracy, citizen-centric legislation, women’s representation, and transparent governance.

Representing Tripura, Deputy Speaker Shri Ram Prasad Pal highlighted the state’s progress in social and economic development, and emphasized the continuous efforts to strengthen democratic roots at the grassroots level. He also shared insights into the parliamentary experiences of the North Eastern region, underscoring Tripura’s commitment to democratic ideals and people-oriented governance.

Speaking during the conference, Shri Pal stated that the Tripura Legislative Assembly has always upheld the core principles of democracy while working for the overall development of the people.
