KVK, Sepahijala holds a Training cum input distribution programme

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sepahijala, CAU, Tripura organized a one day training cum input distribution programme at Community Hall, Charilam, Sepahijala in collaboration with ICAR-IARI, New Delhi&Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, on 26th September. The programme was conducted under the guidance of DrAnupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal and under the technical guidance of Dr Dilip Kumar Kushwaha, Scientist, Division of Agricultural Engineering, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi; Dr Pramod Kumar Sahoo, Head & Principal Scientist, Division of Agricultural Engineering, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, Dr. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director, Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal, Dr. A. K. Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VII, Umiam, Meghalaya and Prof A. B. Patel, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU(I), Lembucherra, Tripura. The objective of the programme was to train the farmers about scientific vegetable cultivation and enhancement of farm income.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Pradip Baran Roy, President, All Tripura Farmers Clubs,Tripura, Smt. Khela Bhowmik Nath, Chairman, Charilam Block, Dr Bibhas Kanti De, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala in the presence of Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Sepahijala, Tripura, Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Sepahijala and others.

The welcome address was given by Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Sepahijala, Tripura who emphasized on vegetable cultivation. Dr BibhasKanti De, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala Tripura gave an insight into the importance of today’s programme and encouraged the farmers for more income through vegetable cultivation.

Smt Khela Bhowmik Nath, Chairman, Charilam block, Sepahijala Tripura shared her experience on vegetable cultivation to get more income and use of organic manure in quality vegetable production. Shri Pradip Baran Roy, President, All Tripura Farmers Clubs, Tripura stressed on the importance of good quality seed for enhancement of farmers income. He also emphasized the role of ICAR-IARI-NEH Component, to increase income of farmers through different technology and input like improved seed variety suitable for the region.

Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Sepahijala gave an insight into the disease and insect, pest management in vegetable crops. Dr Dey also highlighted the importance of kitchen garden, ICAR-IARI-NEH Component and different management practices. During the programme, Pusa Beej received from ICAR-IARI, New Delhi were distributed among the farmers, farm women, and rural youth. All the farmers, farm women, and rural youth actively participated in the programme and interacted with dignitaries and they are thankful to KVK Sepahijala and ICAR- IARI, New Delhi for providing vegetable seed kit.
