The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Asish Kumar Saha has conveyed his best wishes to the people and media of the state on the occasion of the post-Puja ‘Vijaya Dashami’. He personally called media persons to convey his best wishes and prayed for the general well being of the people in a statement.
Speaking informally Asish said that Congress in the state now is battle-ready and will hit the streets with a well-charted programme of agitation to press for urgent demands of the people. “There are so many crucial issues pertaining to the vital interests of the people in Tripura now ; problem of unemployment is very acute , the state’s officers and employees continue to be deprived , the infrastructure building process is plagued by corruption that has now assumed institutional proportions with big shots like most of the ministers being involved in it ; in short no section of people in Tripura is happy and there is general discontent among people” said Asish.
He asserted that the Pradesh Congress is working on preparing a charter of demands in the interest of people and will launch an agitational programme soon. Asish recently attended the Congress Working Committee meeting in Patna and will implement the decisions taken in the meeting through political activism. The Congress, he said , has put in place a strong organizational structure with workers from grassroot level in leadership roles and they are strengthening the party all over the state. He said that in the course of his almost daily tours to different parts of the state he has found grave discontent among people who are waiting for an opportunity to unseat the BJP government in Tripura. “ I do not wish to make any prediction but there is an urge among the people for a change and I hope it will happen in the next assembly election ; we are now preparing for the elections to the ADC and the statewide civic bodies next year and our hope is that Congress will perform well in these two elections” said Asish.
