The spirit of Durga Puja is at its peak in Tripura, with more than 3,100 Puja mandaps being set up across the state this year. Excluding the Agartala Municipal Corporation areas, records show that the highest number of Durga Puja pandals are organized in Bishalgarh block of Sepahijala district (160 pandals), while the lowest number is in Jampui Hills under Unakoti district (only 2 pandals).
A memorandum issued by the RD (Panchayat) Department (No. F.219-69/PE/PR/2025/185-593, dated 20th September 2025) sanctioned Rs.
23.95 lakh under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) scheme for displaying Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) banners in front of puja mandaps across 58 block areas. The allocation has been made at the rate of Rs. 750 per poster.
The flex distribution record gives a clear picture of block-wise puja celebrations across the state:

In total, more than 3,100 banners will be placed in front of pandals across the state, funded through the Panchayat Department.
The official order clearly states that banners must follow the RD Department’s approved design template, with no alteration allowed. Each BDO is required to submit utilization certificates and photographic evidence of banner placements by October 15, 2025.
While the government-sanctioned IEC banners will highlight schemes under the RGSA, an overwhelming number of political flex posters of BJP ministers, MLAs, and chairpersons have also flooded roads, puja mandaps, and marketplaces. Almost all 12 cabinet ministers have placed posters in their constituencies and in Agartala.
Observers point out that this year’s Durga Puja in Tripura showcases not only the state’s cultural vibrancy with thousands of puja pandals, but also a political branding war intertwined with festivities.
