In an extraordinary display of devotion and talent, a 15-year-old boy, Kankaj Roy, popularly known as Jeet, has left his entire neighborhood amazed by crafting a Durga idol with his own hands and arranging Durga Puja at his residence.
A resident of Ward No. 2, Kanchanmala under Golaghati Assembly constituency, Kankaj is the son of Nibas Roy, a vegetable vendor, and Rakhi Roy. He is a Class IX student at Lakshichhara Ramakrishna Higher Secondary School, Kanchanmala. Despite his young age, Kankaj has already proved his exceptional artistry by independently making Durga idols for the last two years. However, it was only last year that the news of his unique initiative spread widely among the locals.
This year again, he has successfully sculpted a Durga idol at home, astonishing not only his parents and relatives but also the entire locality. His father and mother have extended all possible support to make his dream a reality.
The puja rituals are being conducted strictly according to Hindu scriptures, with a woman priest leading the ceremonies.
Speaking to journalists on Monday morning, the young talent Kankaj expressed his joy and devotion, sharing how he poured his heart into the idol-making process. Neither his parents nor the people of the area ever imagined such exceptional talent would emerge in a boy of his age.
The dedication of 15-year-old Kankaj Roy has not only brought pride to his family but also inspired the entire locality, where his home-grown Durga idol and Puja arrangements have become the talk of the town.
