Electric train operations are set to commence in Tripura by next three months, marking a significant step towards integrating the state into the national railway grid.According to sources in Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), the electrification project is progressing rapidly. If all goes as planned, electric engines will start running on Tripura's rail tracks this year. On Monday, NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Kpinjal Kishore Sharma, informed the media that the electrification of the railway line from Badarpur to Agartala station has been completed. The electrification work on the Agartala-Sabroom line is also progressing swiftly and is expected to be completed within the next 2-3 months. However, due to pending electrification work between Maibang and Chandranathpur in NFR’s Lumding Division, electric train services on this line cannot yet extend to Guwahati.Sharma added that efforts to complete the remaining section are also underway.
