Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday said the trust deficit between BJP and the state’s Janajati people is fading away, with more communities acknowledging the party’s vision for development.

Speaking at a joining programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Saha welcomed 920 voters from Dhalai district led by Paritosh Debbarma, a founding member of Tipra Motha Party. BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma also attended the event.

Saha said that earlier, political elements had misled Janajati people, but “now they understand BJP is committed to equal growth.” He added that increasing Janajati participation in BJP rallies reflects the party’s acceptance, assuring that “the intent of reaching out will never be missing again.”

Emphasising Tripura’s mixed population, the Chief Minister said harmony and equal opportunities are essential, and the government prioritises safeguarding the rights of all. He also announced plans for a special policy to preserve the distinct identity of 40 Janajati tribes and sub-tribes, along with efforts to protect royal-era monuments.

Despite BJP and Tipra Motha being coalition partners, tensions persist, with recent allegations of Tipra supporters attacking BJP offices.
