Behalabari village under Tulasikhar block notified as ‘Bio Village’, minister Animesh Debbarma attends inaugural programme

The Behalabari village under Tulasikhar block in Khowai subdivision has been notified as ‘Bio Village’ at the initiative of the department of Bio-technology and ‘Ashray’ foundation and their financial assistance. On this occasion a programme was held yesterday with the minister for forest and science and technology Animesh Debbarma in attendance as the chief guest. In addition the director of the ‘Ashray’ foundation Nalini Kumar Jenil Dharani , the CSR in charge of HSBC bank and the joint director of the Bio-technology department and pioneer of the ‘Bio Village’ project Anjan Sengupta were present on the occasion.

In his inaugural address forest minister Animesh Debbarma appreciated the role of Bio-technology department and ‘Ashray’ foundation in notifying the Behalabari village as ‘Bio Village’. He said that altogether 56 residents of the village have been brought under the scheme of the ‘Bio Village’ as part of which the beneficiaries will be assisted in cultivating and producing 3-5 products. “The main purpose of this scheme is to ensure socio-economic development of the people of the village and conservation of home and soil ; in a phased manner the beneficiaries of the scheme will be given cheap electricity materials , organic manure, battery run spray machine, bio-mass, coke-stove, bio-gas, inputs for mushroom cultivation, ducks, chicken, goat, piglets, fishlets, food for animals and fish and bee-rearing inputs” said Animesh. He expressed the hope that with proper implementation the ‘Bio Village’ scheme in Behalabari will achieve great success.
