Tripura is set to witness a historic transformation at the revered Mata Tripureswari Temple in Udaipur as part of the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) Scheme of the Government of India. With a total project cost of Rs. 52.04 crore, the centuries-old shrine is being redeveloped into a modern pilgrimage hub while retaining its spiritual essence.
The developmental works include major infrastructural and visitor-friendly facilities. At the main temple complex, provisions are being made for shaded seating areas for devotees, CCTV surveillance for enhanced security, and a dedicated area for queue management.
The ground floor will house essential services such as a prasad counter, cloakroom, shoe deposit center, and modern toilet blocks.
The middle floor will feature a meditation center, puja counters, media room, and life-care facilities to assist visitors.
Adding to the temple’s spiritual and cultural aura, a museum, interpretation center, and exhibition halls are also part of the plan. Special facilities will be introduced for the elderly and differently-abled pilgrims to ensure an inclusive environment.
The much-anticipated inauguration of this project will be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 22, 2025, marking a milestone moment in Tripura’s cultural and religious history. The new project is expected to not only enhance the pilgrimage experience but also boost cultural tourism, turning Tripura into a major spiritual destination in the Northeast.
