A divisional committee office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tripura was partially demolished under mysterious circumstances late Friday night. Unidentified miscreants reportedly used bulldozers to damage parts of the office, including doors and furniture, though the main structure remained intact.
The incident has sparked sharp political reactions. On Sunday, CPIM Politburo member and Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury visited the site and held the ruling BJP responsible. “This is the beginning of the end for the BJP,” he said, alleging that the demolition was carried out under the patronage of those in power. He argued that if it were legal, it would not have been done secretly at night.
Accusing the BJP of failing to fulfill promises since 2018 and of exploiting people, Chaudhury said such actions reflect desperation. The CPIM has vowed to intensify its struggle against “injustice and intimidation.”
