ABRSM Tripura Holds Annual General Meeting 2025 at Agartala

The Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha), held its Annual General Meeting 2025 at Nazrul Kalakshetra auditorium on Sunday. The programme, attended by eminent dignitaries, teachers, and academicians, began with the ceremonial ‘Deep Prajwalan and Pushpanjali’, followed by SaraswatiVandana.

Welcoming the guests, Sri Debashish Roy Chowdhury, General Secretary, ABRSM, Tripura, expressed gratitude for their presence despite busy schedules. He outlined the day’s programme, including the presentation of the Annual General Report (2024–25) and the Audited Statement of Income and Expenditure, followed by a vibrant cultural programme.

The highlight of the morning was the launch of ABRSM’s Annual Issue 2025 by Hon’ble Minister Sri Kishor Barman, who also praised the organisation’s commitment to constructive dialogue and educational development. A short film on ‘SangathanVikashYatra’ showcased ABRSM’s contributions to the field of education.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Dhirendra Debnath, State Organising Secretary, ABRSM, stressed that ABRSM is not a political body but works for the holistic development of education.Sri Mahendra Kapoor , All India Organizing Secretary, highlighted the importance of teachers in nation-building, holistic development of education and society, and called for reviving Bhartiya Gyan Parampara (India’s ancient knowledge system). He urged teachers to focus on responsibility and knowledge-seeking attitude rather than criticism, adding that ABRSM believes in constructive engagement rather than destructive agitation.

Sri Tirtharam Reang, President of ABRSM Tripura, spoke about the organisation’s year-long efforts and deputations to the Government. He raised several pressing issues, including the shortage of teachers in colleges, the need for permanent settlement of Earned Leave, service benefits for PGTs and their nomenclature as ‘Assistant Lecturer’, preparation of proper academic calendars, and the demand of notional fixation from January 1 2016.

In his keynote speech, Hon’ble Minister Sri Kishor Barman, Minister of Higher Education, Panchayat, and GA (Political), lauded ABRSM for going to the root of problems in the development of education and society and offering practical solutions instead of resorting to agitation. He drew a clear distinction between ABRSM and left-wing organisations that, according to him, rely on coercion, political subscriptions, and disruptive protests. “ABRSM believes in dialogue and development, and that is why its role in shaping education in Tripura is unique,” he remarked.Sri Barman emphasised the importance of reviving India’s ancient knowledge traditions while aligning them with the vision of a Viksit Bharat. He appreciated ABRSM’s role in contributing to the National Education Policy (NEP) formation, while criticising Left-affiliated groups for their non-participation. Underscoring the government’s commitment to teachers and the education sector, the Minister assured speedy recruitment of 401 Assistant Professors and 16 Principals, timely preparation of the academic calendar, and steps towards pension, DA, insurance, and transparent recruitment policies. He stressed the need for a collective change in attitude for the betterment of education and society, assuring that the Government stands firmly with the teaching community.

The first Session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prasenjit Debbarma, Secretary, ABRSM, and Coordinator of AGM 2025.In the beginning of the Second Session, four teachers were felicitated for their outstanding contributions in the field of higher education. The honour was a mark of ABRSM’s recognition of dedicated service and commitment to the academic community. Dr. Arjun Gope, Sakha-Pramukh, Assam Kshetra, delivered his valuable words on ABRSM and it’s importance in the enhancement of education.Hence, the session continued with the presentation of the Annual General Report 2024–25 by Sri Debashish Roy Chowdhury, followed by the Audited Statement of Income and Expenditure 2024–25 presented by Sri Tapan jyotiMalakar, Treasurer, ABRSM, Tripura. The session was marked by informative deliberations and constructive participation. It concluded with a mesmerizing cultural programme on ‘Operation Sindoor’, showcasing the artistic talents of the members, and ended with a stirring ‘Rastra Vandana’.
