Minor boy accused of abduction arrested in Tripura

Tripura police have arrested a minor boy accused of abducting a young girl in Gomati district’s Kakrabon area, ending a months-long search that had kept law enforcement on edge.

The incident occurred on June 20 when a girl went missing from Kakrabon police station limits. A case (No. 33/2025) was registered after her family lodged a complaint, and investigations revealed that a minor from neighbouring Sonamura subdivision was behind the abduction. Since then, the accused had been evading arrest by frequently changing locations.

On Saturday night, acting on credible intelligence, a special team led by Kakrabon Officer-in-Charge Jayanta Malakar raided the suspect’s house in Sonamura and arrested him. Police said the accused will be produced before court following questioning, in line with legal procedures.

The arrest has brought relief to the victim’s family and local residents, who had been living under uncertainty since the abduction. Police efforts in tracking and finally apprehending the accused have been widely appreciated.
