Mounting political tension has been reported from Kailasahar subdivision over death threat given to BJP youth front ‘Juba Morcha’ president Arup Dhar. A FIR has been filed with police on the issue and the Kailasahar ‘Mandal’ of BJP has asked police to provide security cover to Arup Dhar. This has sparked political tension in entire Kailasahar subdivision.
Sources from Kailasahar said that on September 11 when the Congress had called a twelve hour Kailasahar ‘bandh’ a number of Congress supporters and pro-bandh picketeers had shouted provocative slogans against ‘Juba Morcha’ president Arup Dhar , allegedly threatening him with murder. This was followed up with similar threats yesterday also and flurry of provocative and threatening social media posts that has been continuing.
On Friday night-that is, yesterday-‘Juba Morcha’ president Arup Dhar, BJP Unakoti district president Bimal Kar, party spokesperson Debasish Sen, general secretary Arun Saha and other party workers visited the Kailasahar police station and filed a FIR on the issue, naming three persons belonging to Congress. Having filed the FIR Arup Dhar demanded that police arrest the three FIR-named culprits and provide security to himself and his family.
Speaking on the issue the BJP spokesperson in Unakoti Debasish Sen alleged that the Congress workers and leaders have been systematically carrying on a smear campaign of threat and intimidation against Arup Dhar in a pre-planned manner. “If such personal attacks are made and threats issued while carrying out political agitation , this is a clear violation of the rule of law; we want the police to take quick action in the matter to bring the culprits to book” said Debasish Sen. The issue has triggered a furore in Kailasahar.
