Former PCC president and sitting Congress MLA Gopal Roy has demanded a judicial inquiry into the online fraud of Rs 16 crores belonging to Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) from the United Commercial Bank’s main branch at Agartala. Speaking to this portal Gopal said that the mystery behind this crime can not be unearthed by state police because they have to work under the pressure of the home department or inter alia the state government. “There is no point in having the matter investigated by the CBI or NIA as these two agencies are caged parrots of the BJP that rules both the Centre and the state and they will simply hush up the mystery under governmental pressure ; it is only an independent judicial inquiry by a sitting high court judge that can unearth the real mystery and supposed tango of the corrupt AMC authority and the bank in committing this online fraud” said Gopal.

He also took serious exception to the clean chit given by the AMC Mayor to the officers and employees of the AMC on this issue , saying when an investigation is on the Mayor can not given such a clean chit except without ulterior motive and the matter is highly suspicious. “The most important point is that in case the cheques bearing the huge amount of Rs 16 crores had been cloned, as is being claimed now, how the fraudsters could have cloned the cheques without getting copies of the originals and specific numbers of the cheques ; more important thing is that generally when such big cheques are paid by banks or encashed by the payees a mobile alert comes to the issuing authority or the account holders ; hence these crucial angles must be inquired to pin down the actual culprits and I am sure officers and employees of the AMC and the bank are thickly involved in this scam” said Gopal.

He also alleged that the drinking water supplied by AMC in Ward No-17 is unrefined and contaminated and should be properly refined before supply. “This is done with public money given in the form of tax and duty by the AMC citizens , so the money should not be wasted, we demand refined water supply in Ward no-17 as in other Wards” said Gopal Roy.
