One of the oldest educational institutions of Tripura, Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya in Kailashahar, has raised serious concerns over illegal encroachment on its land. The college authorities have formally submitted a written complaint to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kailashahar, Unakoti district, seeking urgent intervention.
In a letter dated 8th September 2025, Principal Dr. Pinaki Pal informed the administration that Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya, a government institution affiliated to Tripura University and accredited by UGC and NAAC, possesses a total of 19.272 acres of land as per official records. However, it has come to light that some portions of the land have been encroached upon illegally. The Principal requested immediate demarcation of the college land to ensure the protection of government property.
On the same issue, the Kailashahar BJP Mandal Committee also submitted a written complaint to the SDM today, expressing concern over the illegal occupation and demanding prompt administrative measures.
So far, no visible action has been taken by the administration regarding the complaints, which has sparked resentment among stakeholders. Former and current students of the institution have strongly protested against the incident and demanded that the government act swiftly to safeguard the heritage institution’s land.
Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya, established decades ago, holds a significant place in the educational history of Tripura. The allegations of land encroachment have now become a matter of public concern in Kailashahar, with students, alumni, and local organizations pressing for immediate demarcation and protection of the land.
