Tragic suicide of teenager after being falsely accused of theft, grief and mourning in entire village

In a heart rending incident a teenager named Ronnie Das (16) committed suicide by poisoning himself , leaving a note addressed to his mother that he had not stolen any thing though he had been beaten up after being accused of theft by a local shop-keeper. The sad incident happened in the Kuchainala village in Surma assembly constituency area under Kamalpur subdivision on last Wednesday.

Police sources said that on that day Ronnie who belonged to a poor family had gone to the local market to buy something for his mother . But as theft had taken place in the shop where he had gone and the shop-keeper held innocent Ronnie responsible for this and beat him up in front of a number of people. Ronnie, a student of class X , returned home crestfallen . Around 11-30 in the morning he was sighted lying unconscious in room while frothing . He was rushed to BSM hospital in Kamalpur and from there referred to GBP hospital Agartala where he breathed his last. His mother had discovered a hand-written note after evacuation of Ronnie’s body to hospital and it cryptically read ‘Mom , I have not stolen anything’. The note , later handed over to police , and the suicide of Ronnie has cast a deep shadow of grief and mourning in entire Kuchainala village.
