A special meeting was held today at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state headquarters in the presence of state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, state general secretary (organization) Rabindra Raju, senior office bearers, and tribal leaders of the party.

The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on various organizational issues, with a particular focus on the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections. It was already decided that the BJP will contest the forthcoming ADC polls alone.

Though several senior leaders from the party’s tribal wing were present, including Bikas Debbarma, Shantana Chakma, Rebati Tripura, David Debbarma, and Amit Raksit, some ministers such as Ratan Nath, Pranajit Singha Roy, Sushanta Chowdhury, and Sudhanshu Das were not seen at the meeting.

While detailed outcomes of the discussion were not made public, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, in a Facebook post, underlined the BJP government’s continued focus on tribal welfare. He wrote that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, no community has benefited more than the tribal population.

Dr. Saha highlighted that the BJP government had given due respect to tribal heritage, pointing out that the traditional Risha was granted a GI tag only after the BJP came to power. He also mentioned that from 2019 to 2024, seven personalities from tribal communities were conferred with the Padma Shri award, an achievement possible only under the BJP government.

Reiterating the party’s solidarity with its workers, the Chief Minister added, if anyone attacks our karyakartas, we will stand beside them immediately. That is the kind of party we are, and that is what we will continue to do in the coming days, he said.
