Every year, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, recruitment rallies for various paramilitary forces are conducted across different states of the country. These appointments are completed through the SSC-GD written examination followed by physical and medical fitness tests. Traditionally, from 2005 to 2024, interviews and related recruitment processes for Tripura candidates were held within the state itself.
However, this year, in a surprising move, both male and female aspirants from Tripura were directed to appear for interviews in Aizawl, Mizoram. The decision caused significant hardship for the candidates, who faced multiple difficulties while attending the process outside their home state.
On Tuesday, the aggrieved aspirants gathered at Astabal Ground in Agartala, raising demands before Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to ensure that future examinations and interviews are conducted within Tripura. Earlier, male candidates had raised similar objections after returning from Aizawl, alleging harassment and urging the government to take corrective measures. Now, female candidates have echoed the same demand.
The aspirants alleged that Tripura’s administration has failed to take the matter seriously, while political leaders of the state have also remained silent. According to them, the recruitment process was conducted unfairly, especially during the physical tests. Candidates claimed they were forced to run on extremely poor hilly tracks, which resulted in nearly 70 percent of Tripura’s job seekers being disqualified.
They urged the state government to intervene immediately and ensure that Again physical and medical tests are organized in Tripura itself to prevent injustice to local aspirants.
