There are people born great on the strength of their extra-ordinary merit or strength but how and where this merit comes from-inherently or otherwise- still remains unknown. Tripura’s Ayan Debnath who is just five years and eight months of age and belongs to the quiet , obscure village of Purba Chebri under Khowai subdivision has achieved what apparently looks impossible for many. Ayan can rattle off the names of altogether 195 countries and their capitals within a span of 2 minutes and 53 seconds. Impressed by Ayan’s superhuman feat at such a tender age the International Book of Records (IBR) authority have registered his name in their records and have also awarded him with a certificate and medal in recognition. Ayan’s award and recognition have given an occasion for celebration to the residents of Purba Chebri village.

Sources from Khowai who had met and spoken to Ayan in his village home in Tantipara area of the village said that Ayan had earlier got his name registered with the India Book of Record (IBR) when he was only 2 years and 4 months old . On that occasion also he had been able to rapidly recite the names of 195 countries and their capitals ex tempore. Son of teacher Pranajit Debnath and home-maker mother Tanusree Debnath, Ayan from his childhood had demonstrated his extra-ordinary memory and knowledge of geography . His parents and relatives used to wonder over his memory and knowledge and attributed this to his previous birth and that was not plausible to most of the people. But all that is now in the background and the buzz-word in Purba Chebri is the latest award and recognition Ayan has won.
