The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has decided to launch a statewide agitational programme from August 30 and it will continue till October 6 in protest against the alleged anti-people policies and programmes of the BJP led state government. Announcing this in an interaction with the media in the Congress Bhawan the PCC spokesperson and senior leader Prabir Chakraborty said that the incumbent BJP government has proved to be a failure on all fronts and the situation has been going from bad to worse by the day.

“There is virtually no law and order in the state as evident from what is happening in the Bishalgarh subdivision ; all over the state the leaders and workers of ruling BJP are engaged in anti-social activities and looting money by extortion , commission trade and cut money collection ; there is no body to rein them in and police is a silent spectator force” said Prabir. He also blamed the state government for the sharp spurt in drug peddling and smuggling that have been destroying the youths of the state even as those running the government are wallowing in corruption of all sorts.

Prabir pointed out the existence of more than fifty thousand vacant posts in the administration and the failure of the state government to fill them up . “We all know how the BJP leaders had spoken of giving jobs upon missed call before 2018 assembly polls but now vacant posts are not being filled up ; candidates who had taken the TET exam in 2022 have been waiting for results over the past three years and the government including the education minister is silent over the issue even though the unfortunate youths who had taken the exam are moving from door to door ; everywhere the scenario is bleak” said Prabir.

He pointed out sharp rise in all kinds of crimes including crimes against women and said that the government is not taking any effective initiative to control crimes because in most of the cases leaders and members of the ruling party are involved in them. Describing the BJP government as all-round failure Prabir called for change in government , asserting that Congress alone can save Tripura from the multiple problems ailing the state. He said that on August 30 a procession of Congress will start from the front side of Agartala Press Club and wind its way through the town to the state secretariat to submit a memorandum to the chief minister.
