The candidates from Tripura for recruitment to Indian army’s Agniveer force had an unseemly experience in undergoing physical test in Aizawal , capital of Mizoram state on 7th and 8th August. But a large number of candidates from Tripura could not participate in the tests because of various obstacles created in their way and all of them returned disappointed. Altogether 461 candidates from various districts of Mizoram had taken part in the rally smoothly .
But the Tripura candidates for the Agniveer scheme of recruitment conducted by the army recruiting office based in Silchar conducted a separate recruitment rally in Agartala’s Swami Vibekananda ground from August 20 to 23. The tests included 1.6 kms run within a specific limit and physical fitness tests. The number of Tripura candidates who had participated in the rally is yet to be released by the army recruitment rally authority but the list of recruitments after medical tests, scrutiny of documents etc will be out soon.
Meanwhile, the candidates from Tripura this morning met the former chief minister and sitting MP from West Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb and urged upon him to have the recruitment centre fors Tripura candidates shifted from Aizawal to Agartala in view of distance of the Mizoram capital from here , difficult journey and adverse local conditions there. They requested Biplab Deb to take up the issue with the army authority in Delhi and see that recruitment quota from Tripura is fulfilled by conducting tests etc at Agartala. Biplab Deb is reported to have assured the Tripura candidates that he will take up the issue with army authority in Delhi.
