A section of SSC GD (Staff Selection Commission, General Duty) candidates from Tripura have alleged harassment and unfair treatment during their ongoing physical tests, which are being conducted in Aizawl, Mizoram, despite Tripura having its own examination centre.
The candidates stated that their physical tests began on August 20 in Aizawl and will continue until September 11. They alleged that instead of allotting them the Tripura centre, authorities sent them outside the state, causing immense difficulties.
According to the candidates, many of them failed the physical test due to the challenging conditions of the Mizoram venue. The test location is deep in the hilly areas, the roads are extremely poor, and the ground is muddy and filled with water. Running in such conditions was nearly impossible, which led to a high number of candidates failing, they claimed.
The aggrieved aspirants further alleged that the decision to shift them outside Tripura was intentional harassment, as the state has the required facilities to conduct such tests. Some managed to pass, but most failed because of the terrain and road conditions, they said.
In protest, the candidates have decided to stage a demonstration in front of the Tripura High Court on Monday. They have appealed to media outlets and news channels to cover their movement so that their grievances reach the concerned authorities.
The candidates urged for justice and demanded that future physical tests for Tripura aspirants be conducted within the state itself to ensure fair opportunities for all.
