The virus of suicide seems to be spreading fast in the state as evident from a string of suicides in various school hostels and homes. But today another such incident took place in within the Routhkhola ‘Madrasa’ under Bishalgarh subdivision. The attempt apparently failed but the student is battling for life in Agartala’s GBP hospital .

Sources from Bishalgarh said that Nazmul Rahaman (14), a student of class VII in the Routhkhola Madrasa, had normally come on time and attended the first class but within a short while Nazmul was found hanging from the ceiling of another empty room in the ‘Madrasa’. One teacher who had come across the alarming scene shouted for help and then a number of students and teachers pulled him down from the ceiling in a serious condition as he had been suffering from breathing problem.

Nazmul was taken to Bishalgarh subdivisional hospital and his parents also arrived but the doctors referred him to GBP hospital for better treatment after giving him first aid . Sources said that Nazmul Rahaman’s condition is still critical in the hospital and the doctors did not give assurance of his survival.Shortly after receiving information of the attempted suicide media persons rushed to the Routhkhola ‘Madrasa’ found it locked from within. The teachers of the ‘Madrasa’ had earlier denied any attempt at suicide by Nazmul Rahaman. Notably, earlier in the year 2023 also another student had committed suicide. Sources from Bishalgarh said that the ‘Madrasa’ authority is trying to conceal the information regarding actual reasons that had led Nazmul Rahaman to attempt suicide.
