117th Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur Celebrated with Grandeur in Tripura

The 117th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, the architect of modern Tripura, was observed with reverence and grandeur through a series of special programs in the state.
A commemorative event was organized at the Bir Chandra State Central Library, where distinguished guests were welcomed with traditional uttariya and floral bouquets. The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by floral tributes. The ambience was enriched by melodious performances, including a soulful rendition by renowned singer Smt. Basabi Pal Choudhury and a captivating mouth organ recital by Shri Swapan Majumder.
Justice S.C. Das, Dr. Shankar Roy, Professor Mujahid Rahman, Professor Shyamal Das, and other eminent personalities highlighted Maharaja Bir Bikram’s visionary role in shaping modern Tripura, particularly his contributions to education, urban planning, and socio-economic reforms. The library readers and attendees enjoyed the program with great enthusiasm. Shri Abhijit Saha, Librarian, played a pivotal role in successfully coordinating the event.
On this occasion, another significant tribute took place at Bir Bikram Memorial College in Agartala. The Chief Minister of Tripura unveiled a statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur in the presence of Minister Kishore Barman, former students of the college, faculty members, and a large gathering of students. The installation of the statue was marked as a historic moment of respect and remembrance for the Maharaja’s immense contributions to the state.
The day’s celebrations reflected the collective gratitude of the people of Tripura towards Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, whose vision continues to inspire generations.
