The just-released notification of the Teachers Recruitment Board of Tripura (TRBT) for recruitment of altogether 1033 post-graduate teachers for various subjects excluding Education has created grave disappointment among STGT teachers who had taken their exam three years ago in September 2022. Speaking on condition of anonymity a candidate for the STGT post who had taken the exam three years ago said that the exam had been taken by TRBT to fulfill 230 posts and altogether 10,595 candidates had appeared at the exam.

“What is most unfortunate is that even though close to three years have passed since the exam was taken the results of that exam have not yet been published by the TRBT authority ; initially there was a problem in declaring the results because of a court case on reservation issue but that case was also settled in court long ago but still the result is yet to be out and why it is so has not been explained by the TRBT or the government” said a candidate for the STGT exam in 2022 on condition of anonymity. He said that along with STGT, exam for recruitment of STPGT or post-graduate teachers had also been taken but the results of the latter were duly declared in a delayed manner and recruitment was completed but the fate of the STGT candidates of 2022 still hang in the balance. “We are also shocked by the fact that our repeated efforts to meet in deputation with departmental minister have failed and we were driven away on every occasion by police; this is most unfortunate and regrettable” said the STGT candidate of 2022 , still awaiting his result.

Apart from this, the STPGT notification has also caused resentment among students or potential candidates who passed with honours and master degree in Education . In the notification just released no post has been notified for Education , worsened by the fact that for Philosophy only 6 posts overall have been allotted even though the demand for teachers is much more. “What is most frustrating is that the subject of Education has been totally ignored even though it is quite an important subject and there are many qualified candidates and students still studying the subject ; the rationale behind this is quite incomprehensible” said a master degree holder student of Education.
