Tragic incident : bridegroom commits suicide in in-laws house

At a time when the buzz-word at the socio-political level is women empowerment , a bridegroom tragically committed suicide in his in-laws home, plunging the entire village in grief and mourning. This incident happened in Purba Gokulnagar village under Bishalgarh police station last night. Sources from Purba Gokulnagar said that Mithun Das (30), originally a resident of Dhanvilas area under Kailasahar subdivision and a long-distance truck driver by profession, had come to his in-laws house in Purba Gokulnagar with his wife and lone surviving son on Saturday on a short trip as he has to ply his truck between Agartala and Guwahati on a regular basis. But this morning his lifeless body hanging from the ceiling of the veranda of his in-laws house was seen.

Mithun’s body was taken away by police to Bishalgarh hospital morgue for post-mortem . He is survived by his wife, one son , brother and sister and widowed mother. Sources said that the reason for his suicide is still unknown as Mithun left no suicide note. He had been in a state of depression over the past few months following the death of his younger son by drowning in the well of his ancestral home in Dhanvilas area of Kailasahar. Mithun’s tragic suicide has plunged his family including wife,son and in-laws and the entire Purba Gokulnagar village in a state of shock and mourning. The police in Bishalgarh has registered a case of unnatural death and said that they will try to ascertain the reason for the suicide.
