Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday reaffirmed his government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and trafficking, warning that no one involved in the illicit trade would be spared.

Speaking at a voluntary blood donation camp organised by Aurobindo Sangha at AD Nagar Higher Secondary School, Dr. Saha highlighted the government’s success in cracking down on narcotics. “Compared to last year, drug seizures have increased by 104 per cent and destruction of seized contraband by 132 per cent. This reflects our relentless drive to dismantle drug networks,” he said.

Calling drug addiction a grave social challenge impacting both boys and girls, he urged parents and communities to remain vigilant, stressing that the fight requires collective responsibility beyond government efforts. He also assured that masterminds behind the trade are being targeted.

Praising Aurobindo Sangha’s initiatives, the CM underlined the importance of tree plantation under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign and the life-saving value of blood donation, noting Tripura’s leading position in voluntary contributions.

Touching on economic progress, Dr. Saha said the state is steadily moving forward despite challenges of the past, now ranking second among North Eastern states in per capita income and GSDP.
