The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has released the merit list for the recruitment of Senior Computer Assistant, Group-C Non-Gazetted posts under the Directorate of Treasuries (Finance Department) and the Department of Industries and Commerce (Information Technology), Government of Tripura.
The selection was based on the combined scores from the written examination and the interview/personality test, with due weightage given to candidates preferences.
In this recruitment, the highest score crossed 66 marks while the lowest score was above 42 marks. When compared to the recent recruitment of MBAs and doctors, Senior Computer Assistant candidates scored significantly higher on average.
In fact, in the case of the recent doctors’ recruitment considered one of the most sensitive and technically demanding government appointments many candidates were reportedly recommended despite securing only 14 to 17 marks in the combined interview and written examination. This has sparked controversy, with public debate over how TPSC could justify recommending such low-scoring candidates for critical medical positions, where high technical competency is essential.
Under the Finance Department, Biswajit Datta topped with 66.45 marks, followed by Amlan Mallik (60.25) and Subhrajit Nath (59.5). Uttara Saha was the top-ranking female candidate with 58.75 marks.
For the Industries and Commerce (IT) Department, Dipasish Taran led with 56.95 marks, followed by Gopinath Das (54.8, SC-PH) and Subrata Nama (53.55, SC). Several women candidates, including Bashari Nandi (52, UR) and Kaveri Debbarma (51.5, ST), were selected against reserved women’s vacancies.
Final appointment of all recommended candidates will depend on verification of eligibility and certificates by the respective departments.
This recruitment drive not only strengthens Tripura’s technical manpower but also reignites discussion on the transparency and evaluation standards of TPSC’s selection process for other crucial government posts.
