Fresh problem : attendant in private chamber of doctor prescribe medicine and refuse appointment with doctor at will

At a time when rising complaints of poor service emanate from government run hospitals and health centres, patients have now started facing problems in the private chambers of doctors because of impertinent attendants in the chambers . They not only control appointments with the doctors but also prescribe medicine and refuse to allow eager patients to meet and consult the doctor .

At least one such case has recently come in the public domain. According to details of the case Sikha Paul (58) , patient with multiple complications , had called on Dr Anindya Sundar Trivedi(Registration No.00057 of TSMC) in AGMC & GBP hospital in February 2022 and took a prescription and undergone CAG. But after fresh complications had emerged she met Dr Trivedi in March this year at Dr. Trivedi’s private chamber gave an appointment on 21.06.2025 when the doctor prescribed her two medicines and two tests-one ECG and few blood tests. The patient , accompanied by a relative, got the ECG and blood tests done in the ‘AIBION Diagnostics and Labs’ close to Dr Trivedi’s chamber in Bijoy Kumar Chowmuhuni , Agartala.

Interestingly, while handing over the ECG report to the patient party next day the pathological laboratory attendant prescribed two medicines for the patient , writing himself as ‘for Dr Anindya Sundar Trivedi’. The patient party was amazed at this but still got the blood tests done on the same day .

Having received the report the patient party asked for appointment with the doctor but the Pathological laboratory attendant who is also in charge of fixing appointments with the doctors said no appointment was required as the ECG and blood test findings were OK and the doctor did not need to be consulted. Despite requests from the patient party the impertinent and charlatan Lab attendant did not give the patient party any appointment. This is the reality of the situation even now and the patient party has not been able as yet to secure the appointment with Dr A.S.Trivedi because of the undue interference of the Pathological Laboratory attendant.
