Tripura tops the list of high courts in the country in case disposal and justice delivery, Justice T.Amarnath Gour

Senior Justice of the high court of Tripura T.Amarnath Gour said that Tripura tops the list of high courts across the country in terms of case disposal and justice delivery to litigants. What sets the high court of Tripura apart from other high courts is the quick disposal of Justice and speedy hearing . Justice Gour was speaking in a seminar in the auditorium of Tripura Central University (TCU) on the theme of ‘Right to justice and rule of law’ , organised by the department of political science in the university.

Addressing the select gathering of students, teachers and intellectuals Justice Gour said that from the subordinate court up to the high court-Tripura tops the country in terms of case disposal and justice delivery. “I must admit that Tripura is also short of adequate number of judges but still we are able to speedily dispose case and give justice to people only because of close co-ordination and co-operation among judges, advocates and court staff; there is no obstacle to case hearing and speedy disposal” said Justice T.Amarnath Gour. He asserted that when he had begun his tenure as Justice in Telengana high court there was a pendency of 2.30 lakh cases but he had ensured the reduction of the pendency down to 30%.

“I can state here that under my stewardship 92 thousand cases have been disposed in various high courts and in most of the cases the petitioners as well as respondents were happy; in most of the cases there was no appeal filed to the division bench or to the supreme court ; on an average I have disposed of as many as 109 cases daily” said Justice Gour. He called upon the students to be on guard against addiction to any toxic substance because it is now seen that youths and students are falling into the fatal trap of drug addiction on a daily basis , inflicting a heavy cost on society. Justice Gour thanked the university authority for organizing the seminar.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the TCU Ganga Prasad Prasein threw light on the achievements of the university in the academic arena and in research work as well . “The TCU has earned countrywide renown for research work as also for organizing seminars with erudite speakers from the national and international level” said Professor Ganga Prasad Prasein.
