Slain CPI (M) leader Badal Shil’s house attacked by his killers, wife and daughter file complaint with PR Bari police station

In a bizarre incident three booked killers of CPI (M)’s south district leader Badal Shil yesterday tried to storm the house of the slain leader and hurled unprintable invectives at his wife Laxmi Shil and daughter Pallabi Shil and threatened to cut them to pieces unless they settled the matter by arbitration . Scared by the sudden attack and threats Badal’s wife and daughter filed a complaint with the PR Bari police station under Belonia subdivision seeking security and arrest of the culprits. The trio who had attacked slain Badal Shil’s house and abused his wife and daughter were identified as Pradip Nama, Manoranjan Tripura and Jagneswar Das who are still at large in the absence of any initiative by police to arrest them even though all three are currently out on bail.

Giving the background of the incident sources from Belonia said that on July 12 last year the local CPI (M) leader Badal Shil who was also a member of CPI (M)’s Belonia subdivisional committee had been severely beaten up and stabbed by a gang of BJP supporters in broad daylight in the Chottakhola market under Belonia. The occasion then was the upcoming panchayat election and Badal Shil had been a candidate of the party for the election to the south Tripura Zilla Parishad. A severely injured Badal Shil was rescued from the market and sent to GBP hospital of Agartala for treatment but he breathed his last there on July 13.

Altogether six BJP miscreants of the area, namely , Pradip Nama, Pinku Podder, Manoranjan Tripura, Jagneswar Das, Bishu Ranjan Das had been arrested following the filing of a FIR by Badal Shil’s daughter Pallabi . While the killers were in jail custody the trial of the case began and an appeal was filed in the high court for their bail following repeated rejection of bail plea in the district and session court but the plea was rejected by the high court. Strangely in clear violation of the high court order the additional district and session judge Motom Debbarma granted bail to the killers of Badal Shil on July 25 this year. Protesting the granting of bail for her father’s killers Badal Shil’s daughter Pallabi filed an appeal in the high court for cancellation of the bail order and the high court has sought an explanation in the matter from additional district and session judge asking why the bail order should not be cancelled . This notice from the high court is yet to be replied by the additional district and session judge of Belonia.

Meanwhile , shortly after obtaining the undue bail the killers of Badal Shil have started threatening and intimidating his wife and daughter . Sources said that what happened yesterday has sparked a serious reaction even among common people and they are demanding immediate rearrest of the killers of Badal Shil.
